International tourist increased slightly in October
According to the General Statistics Office, international arrivals are increasing. In October, there were 649,009 visitors to Vietnam, up more than 16% over the same period last year. International tourists visit Vietnam mainly by air, accounting for 70%.
According to General Department of Tourism, this is a good sign for Vietnam’s tourism. The international markets which are exempt from visa have longer stays and are continuing growing well, especially, Korean market, increase 31%; Hong Kong rose 28%; Singapore rose up to 17% over the same period last year.
Although total visitors have been decreased since the beginning of the year but the customer consumption have been increased; therefore the total tourism revenue increased slightly over the same period.
In the last months, the tourism industry focus on attracting tourists from European markets are exempt from visa. Tourism organization launched programs to introduce about Vietnam in France, Germany, Spain, Belarus and welcomed the survey team of business and journalism from the State to increase promote Vietnam's tourism image.
Also participating in important international events such as the Fair ITB-Asia in Singapore, World Tourism Fair (WTM) in the United Kingdom.
